What WLSFA.org is all about….saving lives one grant at a time.

I did this video for the WLSFA Sand and Sea Adventure in Tampa 2014 to show exactly what WLSFA.org does. WLSFA raises money for those who are denied weight loss surgery.  At the event in April we added two more recipients!  I intentionally wanted the room completely dark when it started to set a mood so the video does begin with voice only.

I am still amazed by the transformations here. Used to 360+ pounds too before I decided to have gastric bypass surgery. Everyhing’s going well so far. I’ve lost more than a hundred and it just keeps going down and I am very happy with the results. But of course it won’t really won’t work to your favor without the effort. I do a lot of hiking and walking. I go to the gym 3x a week and I’ve been eating well the past six months. I’m loving everything in my life right now and I have no symptoms of Diabates. 🙂

Oh Lonnie that’s just awesome!!! Thank you for sharing your experience and your excellent suggestions about needing to make an effort. I hope you’ll keep me posted!

What wonderful stories. I will be having self-pay gastric sleeve surgery in Mexico in November. I am really enjoying the articles on your website. You are so right when you say society looks down on weight loss surgery. As if we are somehow “cheating” by having surgery instead of looking at it as using medical advances to our advantage. My mother will be having surgery as well, although she is able to use her Medicare benefits. Keep up the good work!

Thank you Pam! Congrats on you and your mother’s upcoming surgery! People who don’t understand don’t have to have to live in our bodies. The only thing we are cheating is death. On my Bariatric Girl Facebook page I have a graphic that I just recently reposted. (http://www.facebook.com/bariatricgirlpage) It’s still near the top of the page but it says “Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who are committed to misunderstanding you”. Don’t let those people rent space in your head because it’s usually about their personal pain that’s being directed at you. I’m so excited for you and your mom. Keep me posted!
